ClientI need to lose about thirty pounds and I never stick with it. Honestly I think I'm just lazy.
AllenI'm not going to take "lazy" at face value — we'll come back to that. Before we get into weight or diets, tell me a little about yourself. What's been going on in your life lately?
ClientNot much, honestly. Same rhythm every day — work, pickup, dinner, Owen to bed, then I'm basically a zombie on the couch until I pass out. Drew's fine, Owen's four and loud. Sister's wedding is in five months so there's that in the background. Sorry, that's probably boring.
AllenThat's not boring. That's just what it sounds like when you're living it. How long has it been like this — work, pickup, Owen down, then you're done for the night?
ClientSince Owen started preschool, so… two years? Maybe a little longer. Before that I had this thing where I'd walk after work with podcasts. Pickup killed that pretty fast. Now it's just — get through the day, get him down, then I don't want to move.
AllenSo you had something that worked — walks, podcasts — and pickup squeezed it out. When you land on the couch after Owen's asleep, is it mostly that your body is done, or that once you're sitting it's hard to imagine getting up again?
ClientBoth, probably. By then I've been on since six and my legs feel like they're done. And once I'm on the couch, that's kind of the point — I'm not getting up again unless the house is on fire.
AllenSix is early. Walk me through a typical day from when you get up until Owen's asleep — not every detail, just the shape of it.

Summary

Early Phase 1 discovery: Allen deferred the client's 'lazy' frame and opened with a broad life question, then followed the day rhythm, lost walks, and couch-after-Owen pattern with short turns and one focused reflection per step. No coaching, diagnosis, or hidden-story scripting yet.
